Supervision

Riverina counselling has been supporting the supervision of counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers over the last 5 years. We have extensive experience in supporting new graduates, those who have sought career change, and more seasoned professionals with years of practise experience.

Supervision focuses on the needs of the supervisee, and the first few sessions are spent understanding and analysing the needs to begin to formulate the next steps with supervision and where to begin. Before commencing with new supervisees, we book in a brief chat or call to ensure our personalities and approaches will be a match for one another. If, after this, both parties are happy, a supervision contract will be sent to formalise the agreement.

Supervision can include many elements, such as supporting social workers and counsellors with all aspects of their professional development. Some key areas people like to address are:

  • Practice building, as well as how to get clients and build up referrals.

  • Looking into professional development and specialising as therapist.

  • Building core clinical skills to become more effective in our work with clients.

  • Monitoring and implementing self-care strategies.

  • Much more…

Supervision is both flexible and evolving, as over time things will change and we use critical reflection to analyse these elements within ourselves (and how we practice) to be effective with our clients. We supervise staff in all sectors, from private practice to not for profit organisations.

With specialist areas in trauma, complex presentations, neurodivergent therapy and testing, as well as extensive experience working with children and teens, it is good to ensure your supervisor has similar experiences so they can properly guide and support you based on their experiences.

Due to demand, please enquire and book early for ongoing supervision to ensure you met your accreditation hours on renewal!
